Valheim console commands

All 154 console commands of Valheim 1.0.17, read from the game itself: what each one does and whether it needs cheats. Click a command to copy it.

How to open the console and turn on cheats

  1. In Steam, right-click Valheim, choose Properties and type -console in the launch options.
  2. Start the game, load a world and press F5. The console opens at the top of the screen.
  3. Type devcommands and press Enter. The cheat commands now work. Type it again to switch them off.
On a dedicated server the cheat commands are for admins: put your platform ID in adminlist.txt of the server, then join and press F5.

The commands people use most

spawn Boar 1 3Spawns one boar of level 3 (two stars) next to you. The first word is the prefab name: see the item IDs and the creatures.
spawn SwordIronPuts an iron sword on the ground in front of you. Add an amount after the name for stacks: spawn Wood 50.
godTurns invincibility on and off.
ghostMakes enemies ignore you.
flyFree flight. Press the same key again to land.
healFills your health and stamina.
tod 0.5Sets the time of day, from 0 (midnight) to 1; tod -1 gives the clock back to the game.
event army_eikthyrStarts a raid. randomevent picks one for you and stopevent ends it.
goto 1200 -800Teleports you to x 1200, z -800 (the coordinates the map shows).
exploremapUncovers the whole map; resetmap covers it again.
tameTames every tameable creature close to you.

Questions

How do I open the console in Valheim?

Add -console to the launch options of the game in Steam (right-click Valheim, Properties, Launch options), start the game, load a world and press F5.

How do I turn cheats on?

Type devcommands in the console. The cheat commands then work in your world. On a server only admins can use them.

Do cheats disable achievements?

Cheated items and pieces do not count for the game's achievements. The command yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway exists for people who want them anyway.

What is the command to spawn an item?

Use spawn with the prefab name, for example spawn Coins 1000. The prefab names are on the item IDs page.

Can I use console commands on a dedicated server?

Yes, as an admin: add your platform ID to adminlist.txt of the server, join, and open the console with F5. Commands marked server only below also work from the server console.
