Valheim 1.0.20

Trophies now drop more often from higher-star monsters, and the rare drop system keeps its progress between play sessions. The patch also clears wrongly applied cheated flags from items and build pieces made in earlier versions. Crossplay between Mac App Store players and other platforms won't work until the patch reaches the Mac App Store.

Patch 1.0.20 changes how trophies drop and how rare drops are distributed, along with a set of fixes for items, servers and Xbox settings. The main change is to trophies: monsters with a higher star level now give a better chance of dropping one.

One platform note matters for multiplayer. The Mac App Store version of this patch is delayed, so crossplay between Mac App Store players and players on other platforms will not work until that platform catches up. Once the patch is out there, crossplay should work for everyone again.

What changed

  • Trophy drop chance now increases with the star level of the monster.
  • Pseudo-random drop logic is no longer reset between player sessions, which gives a fairer distribution for rare drops.
  • Attachment points for sheathed weapons have been adjusted.

What was fixed

  • A possible exploit involving Forge of Potential is closed.
  • The cheated flag has been reset on all items and build pieces from previous versions. This undoes the damage from a bug in the initial 1.0 release that marked some validly obtained items as cheated.
  • Cheat Sword and Cheat Sledge are now correctly considered cheated in the specific cases where they were not before.
  • A dedicated server no longer runs at an uncapped frame rate when v-sync is enabled in a client on the same computer, a problem that wasted massive amounts of CPU time.
  • Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X: settings that failed to save between sessions for some users now save correctly.

Questions

Will I get more trophies from my kills?

Trophy drop chance now goes up with a monster's star level, so higher-starred monsters are more likely to drop a trophy.

Why can't I play crossplay with Mac App Store players?

The patch is delayed on the Mac App Store, so crossplay with players on other platforms will not work until it is released there. After that, crossplay should work for everyone again.

Are my items still marked as cheated?

The cheated flag has been reset on all items and build pieces from previous versions, which fixes the wrong marking caused by a bug in the initial 1.0 release.
