Valheim 0.214.300

Patch 0.214.300 is a hotfix that largely removes the terrain differences between Xbox and PC worlds, so some Xbox buildings in affected areas may collapse. It also fixes manual saving, the left-handed mouse, keybinding settings and several text and UI problems. The Xbox bug that resets worlds to day 1 once they reach a certain size is not fixed yet; a solution is expected in the next patch.

Changes and balancing 6

  • Heightmap differences between Xbox and PC have been almost entirely eliminated, so some areas of Xbox worlds will have a significant terrain change and buildings placed there may collapse.
  • Added a "Balanced Mode" graphics setting on console, running at 40 FPS and 1440p on Series X and 900p on Series S; it only appears if your screen supports 40 FPS.
  • Added a "Swap Triggers" control option, meant to fix a potential issue with PlayStation controllers.
  • On the character screen the right stick now only rotates the character, and it no longer has double functionality in the character creation menu.
  • Signs now accept \t and \n symbols in their text.
  • The engine was updated to Unity version 2020.03.45.

Fixes 9

  • Fixed the mismatch between Xbox and PC heightmaps that could make a player appear to fly in the air or walk below ground.
  • Manual saving no longer makes you respawn where you saved, and admin-list players can now trigger it on a dedicated server.
  • The left-handed mouse option should work correctly again.
  • Keybinding settings should now be saved correctly.
  • Fixed performance issues in the main menu.
  • Some special characters that appeared as squares and symbols should now look more like they did before.
  • Sign hovertext and text input should now display correctly, and sign text should be lit correctly without the lower glow.
  • Fixed various UI and text elements that were displaying incorrectly.
  • Fixed slow, inverted scrolling on Linux.

Known issues 1

  • Xbox worlds still reset to day 1 after reaching a certain size; the cause has been identified and a fix is expected in the next patch.

Other 2

  • If you hit world problems, the "Manage Saves" button in world selection lets you recover an earlier version of your world.
  • If the latest patch leaves your game unplayable, you can run the last stable version by switching to the 'default_old' branch on Steam.
