Valheim 0.216.5
This public test build reworks many underlying systems to improve performance on small and large worlds, networking and load times, and to shrink save files a lot. Saves are much less backwards compatible than usual, and because the build may be unstable, it could be rolled back if problems appear.
Changes and balancing 5
- Performance, memory use and networking have been improved for both small and large worlds.
- World save files are now much smaller.
- Xbox settings now include a "UI scaling" option.
- Corrupt world saves, saves with load errors or saves missing meta files can be restored from the most recent backup in the Select World menu by pressing the "Start" button.
- Loading times in the Manage Saves menu are shorter.
Fixes 5
- Fixed a hitbox issue in close combat and an issue with throwing spears.
- Fixed minimap pin input on Steam Deck and in Big Picture mode.
- Fixed the save manager loading endlessly when switching tabs too quickly.
- Fixed save file stability and other save issues.
- Fixed the GUI not updating after deleting the bottommost backup in the Manage Saves menu.
Known issues 2
- The many system changes may have introduced new, obscure bugs that have not yet been found.
- Saves are significantly less backwards compatible than with other patches, so there is a risk of having to restore a backup when playing on the public test.
