Valheim 0.217.11: Hildir's Request

This public test build of Hildir's Request makes the Hildir everyday clothing useful by lowering the stamina cost of the hammer, hoe and cultivator. It also adds build piece copying and a large batch of fixes. The developers hope it is the last test patch before Hildir's Request is released beyond the public test.

New content 6

  • Hildir clothing now reduces stamina use for the hammer, hoe and cultivator.
  • You can now copy a build piece while in build mode.
  • Manual snap cycling now shows the name of each snap point.
  • Console players get quick selection commands: Store is X+DPad and Load is Y+DPad.
  • The itemset command now includes 'hildir'.
  • Server modifiers can be closed and saved quickly with X, and the modifier text in the world and server lists is fully localised.

Changes and balancing 14

  • Hard and Very hard combat difficulty now also raise the chance of star mobs.
  • The resource rate modifier now scales pickables, honey, sap and all other drops more correctly.
  • Hildir items can now be repaired at a workbench.
  • Plants now grow into roughly the rotation of their sapling, though they still start with a random rotation when planted.
  • A piece is now removed when you release the button instead of when you press it, so you can combine buttons or hover away to change your mind.
  • You can no longer build on a fire pit, and snap points were removed from the barber station.
  • You can zoom the camera while using the hammer, hoe or cultivator when the mouse has no rotation to do, and always on gamepad.
  • Place stacks now works only once a container has been opened, so shift-e on a container no longer does it.
  • Snap points can no longer be cycled by accident while the build menu or map is open, and the character no longer jumps during piece selection.
  • Toggle run is now called toggle sprint and works again, and auto run is reset after a dodge.
  • With the 'No Boss Portals' option, bosses now count as active and block teleporting after they are first aggroed rather than when they spawn, and blocked portals and dungeon exits show the same message.
  • The new optimised low vegetation quality setting now keeps a small amount of grass instead of none.
  • The randomevent and stopevent commands can now be used by all admins, and tombstones can be deleted with the forcedelete command.
  • On Console 2 mapping, the Alt functionality key is now LB.

Fixes 13

  • Hildir locations should now generate correctly on dedicated servers.
  • Precision placement of build pieces no longer looks a few centimetres off.
  • Random events with 'Player based events' now work properly: they no longer spawn only for the host, or not at all on a dedicated server.
  • Several server modifier problems were fixed: crossplay servers failing to register with too many modifiers set, modifiers not being set for in-game hosted servers on Steam matchmaking, and modifiers not resetting when starting a world without any.
  • The server modifier summary is no longer empty in the server list, and 'Custom modifiers' now shows its localised text instead of the localization key.
  • A crash tied to the old portal was fixed, along with various crashes related to generation and projectiles.
  • Fixed the icon for tunic4, some stats that were not saving correctly, and a missing tooltip on some inventory items.
  • Fixed boats falling through the ocean, distorted LOD terrain mesh near modified terrain, and a vegetation shader issue.
  • Fixed music getting stuck on its morning and evening tracks inside dungeons.
  • Fixed text and font problems: bold Asian fonts are readable, rune-stones show only rune symbols in all languages, all text fields have the right fonts, and some localization updates missing after a language change now apply.
  • Fixed control characters showing as boxes in item descriptions, some incorrect key hints, a wrong click sound on 'B', and the store item tooltip position on gamepad.
  • The saving icon now also appears at low FPS, the world list updates when the last world is removed, and the server browser tooltip no longer overlaps the cloud warning text.
  • Fixed a memory leak when opening and closing the skill dialog, and a threading issue that makes the game quit a bit faster.

Other 4

  • Save handling is more reliable: world and character saving now work the same way on every method, manual save no longer saves the world twice, and a check for available cloud storage runs after saving and before world start, which should prevent world wipes.
  • Fixed excess world save backups after migrating from an older version, a new world getting the seed of a just-deleted world with the same name, and worlds with very large dungeon seeds failing to load.
  • On Xbox, your own chat messages are no longer filtered, your own sign texts show when playing offline, and privilege pop-ups no longer appear offline.
  • On Xbox with player based events, using a guardian power from a boss, or killing certain enemies, now also enables that boss's events.
