Valheim 0.218.9: Ashlands
This public test build adds the Ashlands, a new southern biome with new enemies, a boss, gear, food and building options. It is a test version that may be unstable, and more patches are likely before it reaches the Default version of the game. Several mead materials are fixed and in-game texts are standardised.
New content 14
- The Ashlands biome arrives with 30+ new weapons, 3 new armour sets, 2 new capes, 10+ new creatures, 70+ new buildable items, 5 new crafting station upgrades and 30+ new crafting materials.
- The terrain is now cut off from other biomes and can only be reached by sea, and the boiling hot waters in and around the Ashlands can only be sailed by the sturdiest ships.
- Cinders rain from the sky and hurt unprotected players, lava covers large parts of the land and must be crossed with your own platforms.
- Wooden build pieces can catch fire in the Ashlands and the fire spreads, and a new world modifier in the immersive preset lets fire spread outside the Ashlands too.
- New enemies include Fallen Valkyrie, Charred Warrior, Charred Archer, Charred Warlock, Charred Twitcher, Morgen, Bonemaw Serpent, Volture, Lava Blob, the Skugg turret and the Redbeard Dvergr, plus the miniboss Lord Reto and the boss Fader.
- Asksvin can be tamed and ridden, and an Asksvin Saddle and Asksvin Cloak are added; Monument of Torment and Effigy of Malice are new spawners.

- Flametal weapons can be combined with Bloodstone, Iolite or Jade to upgrade them into magical weapons with blood, storm or nature effects.
- There are three new armour sets (Flametal, Embla and Ask), the Ashen Cape, and new bombs and ammunition such as Basalt Bomb, Smoke Bomb, Grausten Payload, Explosive Payload, Charred Arrow, Charred Bolt and Flametal Missile.
- Building gets 25 Ashwood pieces, 26 Grausten pieces, a Flametal Gate, Ashwood Stakewall, new furniture, Shield Generator, Portal – Stone and plantable Ashvines that grow on base walls.
- The Catapult and Battering Ram siege machines let you claim Charred Fortresses, and the Drakkar is a new ship.
- Crafting adds Flametal Ore and a new Flametal (the previous Flametal is obsolete), Sulfur, Ashwood, Grausten, Majestic Carapace (formerly Queen Drop), and new upgrades for the Artisan Table, Galdr Table, Cauldron and Black Forge, including a Gem Cutter.
