Valheim 1.0.16
Patch 1.0.16 is a fix-focused release. It addresses terrain changes in Deep North that reset, too many enemies appearing during raids, and achievements that would not unlock. It also includes some small changes to rocks, graphics settings and snow-rolling logs, plus fixes for Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Mac App Store.
Patch 1.0.16 is a bug-fix release that focuses on terrain modification in Deep North and on a few achievements that were not unlocking as they should. It also deals with oversized enemy spawns during raids, several Deep North boss fight issues, and a handful of platform-specific problems.
The patch takes a few days to reach every platform. Crossplay keeps working in the meantime, so you can still play with friends on any platform.
What was fixed
Terrain and Deep North
- Terrain modifications in Deep North no longer revert after the area unloads. You may still need to fix terrain seams by hand, by pickaxing, using the hoe, or walking over snow.
- Snow deposits from trees no longer raise the terrain around them.
- Rolling snowballs far away from the player no longer causes terrain seams or, in some cases, crashes.
- Tree logs in Deep North now move more consistently when rolling over snow.
- Certain spawns during the Deep North boss fight no longer appear outside the boss area, and others no longer render incorrectly when you stand in certain places.
Enemies
- Far too many enemies could spawn, especially during raids. This is fixed.
- Smoke from fires no longer pushes some enemies in unintended ways.
Achievements
- Child of Odin now unlocks correctly.
- A case where Comfort is King did not unlock correctly is fixed.
- The unobtainable Blue Mushroom is excluded from The Gourmet.
Items and visuals
- Item variants now show visually on items placed on item and armour stands, such as shields.
- An error and potential crash in the online session Player List is fixed.
Platform fixes
- Switch 2 and PlayStation®5: motion controls activation is now consistent.
- Switch 2: banding artifacts no longer appear on textures of objects very close to the camera.
- Mac App Store: backups can now be restored through the Manage Saves menu.
What changed
- Placeable rocks and boulders no longer take rain damage.
- Tessellation is now disabled in the "low" graphics preset.
- Localization has been updated.

Can I still play with friends if my platform has not received the patch?
Yes. The patch takes a few days to reach all platforms, but crossplay stays functional, so you can keep playing together whichever platform you use.
Which achievements were fixed?
Child of Odin now unlocks correctly, and a case where Comfort is King failed to unlock is fixed. The Gourmet no longer counts the unobtainable Blue Mushroom.
