Furniture near you gives comfort, and comfort gives you the Rested effect. This guide covers what Rested does, how comfort groups limit what counts, and which pieces give the most comfort in each group. In total, 96 pieces carry comfort.
What the Rested effect does
The Rested tooltip reads: "You feel rested. Health and stamina regeneration are higher." The multipliers are:
| Regeneration | Multiplier |
|---|
| Health | 1.5 |
| Stamina | 2 |
| Eitr | 2 |
Stamina and eitr regenerate at twice the normal rate, and health at 1.5 times.
How comfort groups work
Comfort comes from the furniture near you. Every piece belongs to a comfort group, such as Chair, Bed or Fire. Pieces in the same group do not add up: only the best piece of a group counts.
- A second chair next to a chair of the same comfort adds nothing.
- A Wood Chair next to a Stone Throne adds nothing either, because only the Stone Throne counts.
- The limit applies within a group, so furniture from different groups is where extra comfort comes from.
The groups at a glance
| Group | Best comfort | Pieces that reach it |
|---|
| Chair | 3 | Antler Throne, Black Marble Throne, Bone Throne, Raven Throne, Stone Throne |
| Bed | 2 | Dragon Bed |
| Carpet | 2 | Bearskin Rug, Lox Rug, Moose Hide Carpet, Wolf Rug |
| Leisure | 2 | Hot Tub |
| Banner | 2 | Blue Jute Curtain, Blue Jute Drapes, Red Jute Curtain |
| Table | 2 | Long Carved Table, Long Heavy Table, Round Table |
| Fire | 2 | Hearth |
| Lantern | 2 | Jack-o-turnip, Lava Lantern, Snow Lantern |
| Display | 1 | Armour Stand, Item Stand |
| Decor | 1 | Asksvin Skeleton, Large Green Pot, Medium Green Pot, Small Green Pot |
| Garland | 1 | Fey Lights, Flower Garland, Mistletoe, Yule Garland, Yule Wreath |
Two pieces, the Maypole and the Yule Tree, have no comfort group. Each gives comfort 1.
Chair is the only group that reaches 3. Display, Decor and Garland top out at 1.
The best pieces in each group
Chair
The thrones are the best chairs at comfort 3: Antler Throne, Black Marble Throne, Bone Throne, Raven Throne and Stone Throne. The Carved Chair, Darkwood Chair and Wood Chair give comfort 2, one less than any throne.
Bed
The Dragon Bed gives comfort 2. The Ashwood Bed and the Bed both give comfort 1.
Carpet
Four carpets give comfort 2: Bearskin Rug, Lox Rug, Moose Hide Carpet and Wolf Rug. The Asksvin Rug, Blue Jute Carpet, Deer Rug and Hare Rug give comfort 1.
Leisure
The Hot Tub gives comfort 2, while the Barber Station gives comfort 1.
Banner
The best banner-group pieces are the jute hangings at comfort 2: Blue Jute Curtain, Blue Jute Drapes and Red Jute Curtain. The cloth banners give comfort 1:
- Black Banner
- Blue Banner
- Blue, Red and White Banner
- Green Banner
- Orange Banner
Table
Long Carved Table, Long Heavy Table and Round Table give comfort 2. Black Marble Table, Square Carved Table and Table give comfort 1.
Fire
The Hearth is the only fire piece with comfort 2. All of these give comfort 1:
- Blue Standing Brazier
- Bonfire
- Campfire
- Hanging Brazier
- Iron Fire Pit
- Standing Brazier
Lantern
Jack-o-turnip, Lava Lantern and Snow Lantern give comfort 2. The Dvergr Pole Lantern and Dvergr Wall Lantern give comfort 1.
Display
The Armour Stand and Item Stand each give comfort 1, which is the best this group offers.
Decor
Asksvin Skeleton, Large Green Pot, Medium Green Pot and Small Green Pot all give comfort 1. The pot size makes no difference to comfort.
Garland
Fey Lights, Flower Garland, Mistletoe, Yule Garland and Yule Wreath all give comfort 1. Since only the best piece of a group counts, one of them is enough.
Putting it together
- Choose a throne for the Chair group. It is the only group where a piece reaches comfort 3.
- In every other group the best piece gives 2 or 1, so one top piece per group is all that counts. Extra copies add nothing.
- Within a group, check the best piece before you build. Lower-comfort pieces in a group where a better one is nearby add nothing.
- Display, Decor and Garland give 1 at most, so use them to fill groups you have not covered yet.
