Valheim 0.209.8

This patch mainly fixes a Steam Cloud bug that could make players lose progress when several accounts shared one PC, by changing where saves are stored. Saves should move on their own, but backing them up is advised. It also adds Midsummer items and a handful of fixes, including an engine update meant to cut down on crashes.

New content 3

  • The Maypole can now be chosen in the building menu.
  • Flower crowns have been added.
  • Banners come in four new colours: Orange, white, yellow and purple.

Changes and balancing 7

  • Cloud saves now go into Steam/[YourIDNumber]/892970 instead of AppData.
  • Local saves now live in "worlds_local" and "characters_local" under AppData and no longer sync to the cloud, which avoids sync conflicts and data loss with multiple accounts on one machine or with dedicated servers.
  • Files still in the old folder structure are moved to the Steam Cloud or the new local folder when used, and a backup is kept.
  • Maximum Cloud storage for Valheim has increased greatly.
  • Mods can now set an isModded flag so players and support can tell the game is modded.
  • The console command exclusivefullscreen can now be toggled.
  • A new console server command, 'recall', teleports other players to your position.

Fixes 7

  • Fixed a Steam Cloud bug that caused lost progress when multiple accounts played on the same PC.
  • Unity was updated to version 2020.3.33, which should reduce crashes.
  • Tamed animals now follow the player into Haldor's forcefield.
  • Yagluth's hair no longer flies around in the air.
  • Fixed the inventory keyboard UI hint.
  • World save files can now be renamed and will still load correctly.
  • Large worlds of 300mb or bigger should now sync correctly.

Other 3

  • Players do not need to do anything for the save move, but making backups of saves is advised for this patch.
  • The character and world lists show which are in the Cloud and which are stored locally or not yet moved out of the old folders.
  • Dedicated servers still use only the local folder.
