Valheim 0.211.4: Crossplay!
This public test build prepares Valheim for upcoming crossplay, so players on different platforms can join each other's games. Steam players who only play with other Steam players will see no difference, but dedicated server owners can now choose to enable crossplay. It also adds a saves manager and an improved server browser. Since this is a test build it may be unstable, and everyone's game needs the same patch version to connect.
New content 5
- Crossplay support has been added, letting players on other platforms join your game.
- Dedicated servers can be started with the '-crossplay' parameter to support crossplay, which makes the backend run Playfab instead of Steamworks.
- A crossplay-enabled dedicated server shows a join code, and players can join with either that code or the regular IP address.
- A 'Manage saves' GUI makes it easier to restore or remove saves and backups.
- In the 'Join Game' tab, players can now add favourite servers and see whether a server is running and whether it supports crossplay.
Changes and balancing 2
- In-game hosting got a minor network optimization, so the host has less work to do when other players are in the game at the same time.
- In the server list, a question mark means the server status is uncertain, a red X means the server is down, and a shuffle icon means the server supports crossplay.
Other 1
- Because this is a Public Test build that may be unstable, backing up your save files before playing is advised.
