Valheim 0.218.14

This public test build is a large round of fixes and tweaks and may be unstable. It adjusts Ashlands enemy spawns, lava and water damage, staffs, armour, food recipes and many building pieces. It also fixes a crash that stopped some worlds from reloading.

Changes and balancing 14

  • Drakkar now needs 50 Finewood instead of 60, has updated destruction effects, and its rudder UI now sits above the rudder.
  • Feather Cape and Asksvin Cape are now frost resistant, the Ask armour set gives a set bonus, and Ashlands mage armour has a slightly higher Eitr regeneration rate.
  • Dundr's backstab bonus multiplier drops from 3 to 1, and upgrading it now raises its lightning damage instead of piercing damage.
  • Staff of the Wild does slightly more damage with spawned thorns, and its spawned roots have a low chance to root enemies on hit.
  • The Elemental Magic skill now rises more slowly when using the Staff of Fracturing, and summoned trolls will attack all creatures.
  • Upgrading the Eldner mace now adds more blunt damage instead of pierce damage, and Berzerkir axes and the Eldner mace cost 16 stamina per hit instead of 14.
  • Fiery Svinstew, Sizzling Berry Broth and Spice Induced Marmalade now need only a level 5 Cauldron instead of level 6, Piquant pie gives 35 stamina instead of 24, and Ceramic Plate weighs 2 instead of 4.
  • The Dyrnwyn sword recipe got a minor tweak.
  • Ashlands enemy spawn rates were rebalanced, and enemies no longer spawn close to the Ashlands dvergr ruins.
  • After defeating Fader, Charred Melee and Archers can spawn in biomes of lower level than Ashlands; after defeating Seeker Queen, Seekers can spawn in biomes of lower level than Mistlands.
  • Starred Ashlands creatures drop fewer trophies, Asksvin trophies are less likely to drop, Carrions are less likely to drop Asksvin skeleton, and Skugg turret drops Charred Cogwheel again.
  • Summoned skeletons and other creatures can walk closer to lava before catching fire, Geirrhafa is no longer immune to lava damage, players take no lava damage while riding Asksvin, and water damage on Ashlands beaches is less intense.
  • Ashvines need a bit more space to grow, no longer attach to a wall already used by another Ashvine, are no longer too hot to grow in Ashlands, and can grow on grausten walls.
  • Flametal spires were tweaked for easier Flametal mining and are now immune to lightning damage, and fir saplings can survive in the Mountains again.

Fixes 11

  • Fixed a crash that could make killed enemies spawn lots of resources and prevent that world from reloading.
  • Fixed portals not connecting when rebuilt, and fixed Catapulted items losing level, durability and similar properties.
  • Fixed non-cinder fire damage turning items into coal, and fixed Flametal Helmet and Berzerkir Axes not being picked up automatically.
  • Grausten arched roofs no longer leave a gap when snapped above other pieces, and Grausten pillars can now be built to their intended maximum height.
  • The Ashwood door can be walked through without getting stuck, and several Ashwood pieces (26 and 45 degree walls and beams, big arch) no longer flicker.
  • The build preview no longer shakes when placing stacks of wood, core wood and bones, and the lava lantern no longer floats in mid air when its support is removed.
  • Basalt platforms no longer spawn duplicates near zone edges, and an issue that stopped them always spawning on Xbox is fixed.
  • Ruins in Ashlands should no longer catch fire, some locations no longer spawn a disconnected spiked piece, and sinking Flametal spires no longer respawn when the area unloads.
  • Trollstav and Dundr are no longer backwards on item stands, and the Dundr reload animation now matches the actual reload at low elemental magic skill.
  • Fixed storm lightning ignoring the flashing lights setting, a weird ridge outside the world edge, and status effects looking too large on players.
  • Disabled ESRAM usage on Xbox One to work around a Unity bug that corrupted shadowmaps for some particle systems.

Other 6

  • Some Ashwood pieces now take rain damage, and Ashwood pieces are less shiny.
  • Visual updates cover Flametal beams and pillars, Grausten material variation, and the straw floor, which is now visible from underneath; the build menu border now matches the menu width.
  • Asksvin no longer sound like wolves when petted, the correct icon shows while riding Asksvin, Lord Reto's name now appears orange, and the Fader Boss Stone emission lines up with its stone carvings.
  • The vegvisir_placeofmystery spawn was changed so the next place of mystery is found from the previous one, and some locations were tweaked.
  • Tooltips for total equipped special stats now include those from status effects, and localization and missing strings were restored or updated.
  • New console commands: 'findtp' goes to the nearest found item, and 'setfuel' fills all nearby lights to a given fuel amount.
