Valheim Seed FJ4DFP4hu4: Close Bosses and a Quick Start Valheim 1.0.17

FJ4DFP4hu4 is a compact seed for the first half of the game. The first five boss altars sit within 3.7 km of where you spawn, Haldor is barely over a kilometre away, and three of the four metals you need early are close to the start. The trade-off is a spawn island that is not huge and a far-off set of late-game altars.

Here is how the seed plays, where it helps you, and where it will slow you down.

The first bosses and Haldor

The altars lie in a tidy ring around the spawn, closest first:

BossDistance from spawn
Eikthyr0.7 km
The Elder1.6 km
Bonemass2.8 km
Moder2.9 km
Yagluth3.7 km

Eikthyr is the nearest at 0.7 km from the spawn, so the first boss is close to your first base. The Elder follows at 1.6 km, and the rest are bunched between 2.8 km and 3.7 km. The farthest of the first five is Yagluth at 3.7 km, a distance that keeps the whole progression tight.

Haldor, the trader, is at 1.1 km, closer than The Elder's altar. Hildir is at 2.5 km and the Bog Witch at 3.7 km, so all three traders sit within the same neighbourhood as the early bosses.

The later bosses are a different story. The Queen is at 7.0 km, The Frozen King at 8.4 km and Fader at 9.2 km. Expect a real expedition once you get that far.

Biomes around the spawn

The two biomes that matter first are right on your doorstep. The Black Forest starts 0.1 km from spawn and the Mountains 0.2 km away, so you can reach both almost immediately.

  • Swamp: 1.7 km
  • Plains: 2.3 km
  • Mistlands: 5.3 km
  • Deep North: 7.5 km
  • Ashlands: 8.3 km

The sequence is gentle. Black Forest and Mountains come at once, then the Swamp and Plains follow within about two and a half kilometres, and only then do you need to travel for the Mistlands, the Deep North and the Ashlands.

By share of land, the Mistlands lead at 24.8%, followed by the Plains at 18.1% and the Black Forest at 17.8%. The Ashlands cover 17.1%, the Deep North 9.4%, and the Meadows 4.6%. The Mountains take 4.3% and the Swamp only 3.6%, so those two are small. If you like the Mistlands, this seed gives you plenty of them.

The metals

Roughly speaking, the ore distances are approximate, since they come from the game's placement rules rather than a survey of every deposit.

Metal sourceApproximate distance
Copper deposit0.2 km
Tin deposit0.2 km
Silver vein0.4 km
Muddy scrap pile (the Swamp iron)1.7 km

Copper and tin are both about 0.2 km out, so bronze is available almost from the first hour. The silver vein is only about 0.4 km away, which is unusually near. The iron comes from muddy scrap piles in the Swamp, about 1.7 km from spawn, matching the Swamp's own distance. None of the early metals requires a long haul.

Landmass and dungeons

The spawn sits on a landmass of 145 km². That is enough room for the nearby biomes and altars, but it is a cap worth knowing about. The farther altars and biomes, such as the Queen at 7.0 km and Fader at 9.2 km, mean you will eventually be looking beyond the starting island.

Dungeons are plentiful: 37 lie within 3 km of the spawn. If you want crypts and similar places to explore without wandering far, this seed delivers, and they sit close to the same area as the early bosses.

Who it suits, and where it falls short

This seed suits players who want a fast, low-friction opening. If you like to chain bosses without long trips, or you are playing with friends who want to be fighting and building quickly, the close altars, nearby Haldor and nearby metals all work in your favour. It also suits anyone who wants lots of dungeons close to home.

The weak points are on the far side of the map. The Queen, The Frozen King and Fader are all 7.0 km or more away, so the pace slows once you leave the starting region. The Swamp and Mountains are small, at 3.6% and 4.3% of the land, and the Meadows make up just 4.6%.
